Stella is my 2 1/2 year old, 65-pound, Brindle Boxer. She’s rotten to the core and every bit lives up the the “Boxer” title. Before I get into the core of my post, I want to share with you a funny little tid-bit on how we actually ended up with Stella. Timmy’s mom called us and said that her Boxer, Cleo, had her puppies and we were allowed first pick of the litter. We waited until they were up and moving and starting to develop some personalities before we chose which puppy we wanted. Timmy and I didn’t have a preference on gender– we just wanted the pup who was drawn to us; what better way to do that than to put yourself right in the middle of them? When I plopped down in the center all of the playing puppies, they all scattered– all but one. One curious, precious baby…. girl. I picked her up, looked in her adorable little brown eyes, proceeded to use baby talk and love on her, and all of a sudden, she peed on me! I couldn’t help but laugh, but lets face it, I was covered in pee, so I handed her to Timmy and I went to wipe off. When I came back around the corner, this perfect little puppy was curled up in Timmy’s arms licking his beard and playing with him. No question, she was ours. My mother-in-law had bought collars to identify the pups once they were chosen. Stella walked proudly among the other puppies with her zebra print and hot pink collar.
So now that you know how we ended up with her, you must also know that she is extremely spoiled. She is a dog that is well-kept– polished toenails and all. I take care of all of her grooming needs and use the best products on her. I use two different shampoos on her depending on the season. In the spring and summer months I use Paul Mitchell’s JP Awapoochi Shampoo, because she spends more time outside, it cleanses her fur, just like the PM Awapuhi Shampoo does for us. In the fall and winter I use Paul Mitchell’s JP Oatmeal Shampoo— this helps soothe her skin. Both products make her smell amazing and keep her coat soft and shiny. When people pet her they always compliment on how soft she is. It feels as though she never lost her puppy coat. Admittedly, I have yet to try either of the conditioners that go with the shampoo, but have heard they are every bit as amazing as the shampoo. Another thing that I absolutely LOVE about these products is that they are cruelty free. Their slogan is “tested on humans first.” You can learn more about the brand and the company here as well as see a list of other amazing products.
When trimming her toenails I use the FURminator Dog Nail Grinder. It is cordless, has a light built into it so you can see what you are doing, and a nail guard to protect the quick! Please talk to your Vet or a professional groomer before trying this! I did a lot of research before I began taking care of Stella’s nails. She sits for me so well that she even allows me to polish her toes and will show them off for everyone to see.
I know this is a little out of the ordinary to talk about pet care, but our furry friends should have fab hair and nails too, right?
xo,
Er and Stella

Oh my gosh! Boxers are the sweetest babies! My brother has two boxers that I lovingly consider to be my OTHER niece and nephew (a fawn, Bernadette and a sealed brindle, Luther). They have never peed on me, but the male has stared at me while pooping inside my parents’ house MULTIPLE TIMES. It’s his thing. I love them though! I would love to have one myself, but I have NO space for one and those fart butts have so much energy! So basically, I’m just living vicariously through Boxer owners like you and my brother. Not weird at all! 😂

Awe! So glad you enjoyed the article! Definitely not weird at all, Boxers are so full of love!! That’s absolutely hysterical what Luther did, sounds like something Stella would do! haha
