It’s wedding season again and with weddings come bridal showers. If you are anything like me, I log onto registries and get so discouraged when most of the items on the list are crossed off. Then, I am absolutely stumped on what to get the blushing bride-to-be. One day, I was scrolling on Facebook when a “sponsored” post came across my news feed. It was a blogger by the name Unveiled Wife. I happened to notice that she was talking about marriage and how she and her husband find strength in prayer. It was an advertisement for two books that she and her husband co-wrote called Thirty-one Prayers for My Husband and Thirty-one Prayers for My Wife. So, I clicked on the link and was reading about these books. The reviews were astounding. There were testimonies of marriages being healed, newly weds communicating, and just average couples strengthening their relationship. I felt so drawn to make a purchase; they arrived in the mail about a week later and the night we got them we started. At first, Timmy just went through the motions, he clearly wasn’t as enthusiastic as I was. The books came with a daily challenge, Bible verse, and a prayer. By the end of the week Timmy was actually reminding me to read my daily devotion and teasing me when he completed it before I did. The trick was though, I wasn’t allowed to read his, nor him mine. To be honest, it did help our marriage– not the book itself, but the prayer. The books encouraged the prayer by guiding the couple through the Bible and backing prayer up with scripture, which is why I have purchased these gifts for the newly weds, anniversary gifts, and “just because” gifts. It is apparent that these books were guided by God and for His purpose.
Skip the Target Wedding registration and give the gift of prayer to a newly wed couple. They may need some prayer to get them through that first year! haha!
