Last week, we ventured to southern California to visit my friend, Ally. We stayed in Tustin, CA, but were rarely there– except for those lovely hours spent lounging on a raft in the beautiful pool at Ally’s complex. The week flew by as we toured Hollywood Boulevard, Beverly Hills, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and Disneyland. Our first day, our flight arrived early (PT helped us out a bit) and we hit the pool for the remainder of the day after chowing down on some In-N-Out (I’m well aware this probably wasn’t the best combo decision, but it made for a perfect Cali day).
The next day, we woke up and got ready to hit Hollywood. Last time I visited Ally, I didn’t get to Hollywood so I was excited to see all the sites. If you haven’t been to Hollywood– what they say is true. It’s not as glamorous as one would expect, BUT I think it’s definitely worth the trip. Walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame and seeing the Chinese theater is pretty awesome, all with the backdrop of the Hollywood sign on the hills.
After we saw the touristy parts of Hollywood Boulevard, we headed to the Hollywood & Highland Mall where we found the Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual at both Victoria’s Secret and Pink. We obviously made a few necessary purchases here– including my favorite perfume that I was all out of at 65% off. (All of their perfumes except the newest ones are still on sale–so hurry!) One of my favorite things to do (and now Erin’s, as well) is visit the VS stores on vacation that have destination apparel. I started this when I went to London with my dad. I drug him into the sparkly 3-story flagship Victoria’s Secret on Bond Street and purchased the cutest zip-ups for my sister and me– well, he did. Thanks, dad! xo The London location is still my favorite VS store I’ve ever been in; it was gorgeous.
After that, Ally took us to The Grove, an upscale outdoor mall with designer stores in Los Angeles. Actors and actresses can usually be spotted doing their shopping here. The Nordstrom was huge and I fell in love with the Swarovski store. After shopping, we went to The Grove’s “food court,” The Farmer’s Market. At the market, we had freshly-made doughnuts and fresh-squeezed strawberry and peach lemonade. Ally had a Diet Coke— as usual. The Farmer’s Market was such a cool area. It offers a variety of different foods, as well as produce markets. After exploring the market, we headed back to Ally’s house and enjoyed the rest of the evening watching Jane the Virgin. Even though Ally and I have watched the entire first three seasons, Erin was just getting started on our favorite funny show. It’s available on Netflix if you’re looking for a new show to binge watch! Season 4 returns in the fall on the CW.
On the way home, we drove past the LACMA and all of the lights. We immediately recognized it because of its presence in a scene from No Strings Attached. Ashton Kutcher wasn’t there; I looked. More soon!
xo,
Ashley
PS. I’d like to end this post by publicly apologizing to Ally for playing L.A. Story in the car every time we were on Sunset Blvd. or crossed over it. Oops..
