The older I get, the more I am starting to fall in love with fall. Of course, I love summer; I get summers off and I get to travel all summer long– can’t complain about that. What I’m finding is that time must go on and summer must end, so why not make the most of it and love exactly where you’re at? Fall is such a beautiful time of the year and I just love cuddling up in a soft cozy sweater with my favorite leggings. I also love boots and PSLs. Let’s be honest, more than any of that, I LOVE FOOTBALL– and it’s finally Steelers season again (THANK GOODNESS). But this is a post about coffee, so I’ll try to let my football feelings subside for a little while. Before we get to our fall fashion post (we have a good one coming up soon), let’s get to what everyone’s favorite part of fall is– pumpkin! <3
Erin absolutely refuses pumpkin until the first day of fall and I’m over here like, “Hey, guys I just whipped up two dozen chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. Who’s hungry!?” I say give me all the pumpkin I can get because before you know it, it’s gone! As you know, Erin and I are both coffee lovers. I didn’t actually start drinking/loving coffee until I started teaching. I made it through high school and college sans coffee. I just wasn’t a huge fan. Then, I started teaching high school and that’s when waking up at 5:00AM every morning became a very real thing. Now, I love my morning coffee– hot or iced! I’m the only one who drinks it in this house, so more for me! 😉 Recently, I discovered how to make the most perfect hot PSL and I think it would be just awful not to share it with you so everyone can enjoy this yummy goodness from home! 🙂 I can’t wait for Erin to stop boycotting pumpkin so I can make her one of my beloved PSLs. She also makes them all the time from home (once her official boycott ends) and she steams the milk on the stove to create the froth. This way is going to be a little easier and I think she might even end up liking it too… but we won’t know for sure until the Pumpkin Boycott of 2017 ends…(stay tuned).
First of all, it doesn’t matter if you’re using a Keurig or a regular coffee maker, you’ll be able to find pumpkin flavored coffee grounds no matter what. The above photos are my favorites for Keurig (my Keurig is the K475 in Sandy Pearl) and regular coffee makers or reusable k-cups. I got these k-cups a while back and they’re amazing, but I’m sure Dunkin’ has their Pumpkin Spice k-cups on the shelves now too– so it looks like I’ll be needing to try some of those for my next batch!
After I brew the coffee, I add a tiny bit of my favorite creamer, Dunkin’ Donuts Extra Extra Creamy! I’m quite aware this isn’t the healthiest option, but adding a little makes your coffee taste like it’s really from Dunkin’ Donuts (we both have a love affair with Dunkin’ if you haven’t noticed)! It’s been hard to find lately. Sometimes, Target has it. Shop’n’Save almost always has it. The same goes for Giant Eagle and Wal-Mart! Check your local grocery store next time you’re out. They also make a regular option that isn’t extra extra creamy, but eh… (lol).
Then, the part that makes this the perfect PSL is the new International Delight One Touch Latte. It sprays in kind of like a whipped cream, but quickly turns into a yummy latte froth. It’s much easier than buying a fancy latte machine or frother or steaming milk on the stove. For me, there’s just no time for that most mornings! The bottle says it makes about 7 lattes, but I’ve been using the same bottle for two weeks and still have a good bit left. I also have tried the mocha flavored in my s’mores coffee and it’s also amazing! Obviously, the vanilla is just perfect in pumpkin spice coffee!!
So, there you have it– the perfect PSL from home. I’m definitely enjoying mine now as I work on some things for the new school year. It’s a busy one, but let me tell you, a good PSL sure does help. How do you make your lattes?! Have you tried any of my favorite PSL ingredients? Let us know in the comments below!
xo,
Ash
