Recently, I played hostess to about 20 people for Halloween; that had me worrying about what to serve when it came to food and drinks. I know that a fan favorite among my group are Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but the last thing I wanted to do was continually serve all of our guests and not have a moment to actually enjoy the party. I went to my favorite resource, Pinterest; I came across some really great recipes but a lot of the comments didn’t make me feel comfortable enough to try them. Most of them called for pumpkin puree and while real pumpkin sounds delicious to me, a lot of pinners complained that the puree settled and then it was lumpy and dissatisfying. Other articles talked about straining the puree after a while, but doesn’t that defeat the whole crock-pot-less-work motif I am going for? Sorry, but there’s no time for that!
So, I decided to take to the bold jump into creating my own and I am so glad I did! It was such a big hit that I had to make 2 more batches; it was going that quickly! So, what’s my recipe you ask? Keep reading to find out.
I absolutely love Dunkin Donuts coffee so, I use their brand of coffee grounds (the pumpkin spice flavor). I can’t make a single cup like I would be making a cup of Folgers or Maxwell House; it is way too strong and to get it to taste right, I really have to water it down or put extra creamer in it. I prefer saving my pumpkin spiced coffee grounds specifically for lattes! If you couldn’t already tell, I use a regular 12 cup pot. Nothing against the single serve cups; Ashley has a Keurig and makes a wonderful single cup PSL (learn all about it here). I just never made the jump to purchase a new coffee pot. I am a little old fashioned, I guess.
I also finish off all my lattes with International Delight’s One Touch Latte! Ashley introduced me and I have justified buying it ever since!
And now to the recipe…
Erin’s Crock Pot Pumpkin Spiced Latte
Preptime: 10 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
What you need:
Coffee Pot and Filters
Crockpot
Dunkin’ Donuts Pumpkin Spice Coffee Grounds
Milk
Sugar
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Nutmeg
International Delight One Touch Latte
Directions:
Make the coffee by brewing a 12 cup pot and using 6 TABLESPOONS of the Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spiced coffee grounds.
Pour finished coffee into the crock pot and set on “warm”.
Add 2 cups of cold milk.
Add 1 cup of Sugar, Stir.
Dust the top of the Pumpkin Spice Latte with ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg
Cover and let sit in the crockpot on warm for 5 minutes.
Ladle the PSL into your favorite mug and top with I.D. One Touch Latte. Dust with Cinnamon for garnish.
Enjoy!
Just a few suggestions before you go: When making for a large group of people, this goes very quickly, so smaller disposable coffee cups help to make sure everyone gets a satisfying amount– plus, it’s less clean up! Keep the crock pot set on warm the whole time, turning it up too high will scorch your PSL!
I hope you enjoy this recipe! If you try it, let me know what you think! I have DD Caramel Coffee Cake coffee grounds waiting to be used in this recipe too!
