I have been working on giving myself more time in the mornings. It’s been a nice change of pace but it’s also been saving me tons of time and money. Let me explain. In the morning I was waking up, rushing to get ready for work, stopping at my favorite coffee place and waiting in the drive-thru for every bit of 5-7 minutes (if not longer), and usually getting to work a few minutes late. My mornings were rushed and I started noticing a pattern in my day. So the first thing that changed was my morning routine. I would get up an hour earlier just to have a cup of coffee then I would get ready for work. I noticed that I was 15 minutes early every day instead of 5 minutes late, but admittedly I was missing those coffee house favorites.
So for Christmas my amazing parents got me something I’ve had my eye on for a while now. The Ninja Coffee Bar with built in milk frother. [insert heart emojis here] Since that day I haven’t craved a coffee house coffee at all. I can make my flavored coffees, my regular cup, half of a pot, travel mug, iced coffees, lattes, and more! The best part, I am making my daily coffees for under $1 a day. Instead of paying $4+ a day on a speciality coffee. What is even better, I’m getting it exactly how I want it. I have also been able to switch my coffee to half-caffeine, I am using less sugar, and I’m actually enjoying using real milk instead of cream!
Some of the more specific reasons why I love my Ninja are:
1. I don’t have to buy coffee filters. It has its own mesh filter that you put your coffee grounds into.
2. Use your own favorite coffee grounds. I switch from Folgers and Maxwell House for my regular cups but love the Dunkin Donuts flavored coffee grounds too.
3. No waste. One cup of coffee is one cup! No more no less.
4. It steams the beans. There is a pause in the brewing process and the pot is steaming the grounds to get a richer coffee flavor!
5. Tons of different coffees. There are so many different coffee options to choose from. Not to mention there is a classic and a rich brew option.
6. It pays for itself. If you drink as much coffee as I do it pays for itself with in the first month! It ranges about $130-150 depending on when and where you purchase yours from (my mom loved mine so much I got her one from Amazon!)
7. Sizing and style. The frother folds back and it is more compact. It fits nicely on the counter and it’s a nice looking appliance.
I also enjoy topping off my coffees with chocolate and caramel drizzle, just to give it that little something extra!
The way I see it, by making my coffee at home I’m saving money and having more money means going on more adventures. 😉
