Sports bras, tank tops, sweat shirts, ball caps, and of course, leggings are what you will find us in 85% of the time when we aren’t working; which is why when we find a particular piece we love, we buy it in almost every color.
We’ve tried them all– or at least a majority of them. We’re not huge fans of Victoria’s Secret, Aerie, or Lularoe leggings. They’re all ok and have their pros, but they don’t measure up to some of the best.
Black leggings are our “go-tos”– Zella leggings at Nordstrom in particular. They are thick, high-waisted, probably the most comfortable (second only to our highly-priced Lululemon Align Pant II ), and affordable. We have them in multiple colors and they’ve always been our favorites for going out, staying in, or working out. But a few weeks ago I was out rocking my Zella leggings on a 75-degree day and they were making me so hot that I couldn’t wait to get home to take them off. Then it hit me, I need a pair of leggings that I can rock on the warmer days, but thick enough that they are smoothing, high-waisted (a must), and affordable.
Cue: Zyia Active. We recently made a connection via Instagram with a wonderful woman named Brook. As a rep for Zyia, she was there to offer us a solution to our summer legging crisis. She was fantastic to work with and helped pick us out some really awesome leggings.
She chose the Light & Tight High-rise Capri in Steel Blue for both of us; taking us both out of our comfort zone, as we both typically stick with longer pants and darker colors.
We liked that the capri didn’t come up over the middle of the calf muscle; it was a little longer and hugged our leg just above the ankle. We also really liked that they were high waisted. Before receiving the leggings, we were a little skeptical of going so light on our bottom half, but once they came in, we were pleased with the color. The pockets on the side are convenient for holding money or even your cell phone, but let’s be honest, cell phones shouldn’t be used during yoga practice — that’s YOU time. But this pocket would be perfect for a run or walk.
Yoga Under the Stars

I wore Zyia and Ash wore Lululemon for Yoga Under the Stars, which is an awesome yoga event that takes place in our nearby community, Greensburg. We practiced yoga on the rooftop of a parking garage. The best part of this class is the atmosphere. There is something amazing about practicing yoga in the quiet of a cool southwestern Pennsylvania evening, with only the everyday sounds we never stop to notice.
It is taught by our friend, Sarah, and there are more Yoga Under the Stars classes being planned and scheduled for the summer. If you’re local, we encourage you to follow the Downtown Greensburg Project Facebook page to stay in-the-loop on upcoming Yoga Under the Stars event dates and for access to registration.

The things we learned about our new Zyia leggings: we need to wear a softer panty, one that doesn’t have thick seams. Because we are so used to our Zella leggings, we, in turn, got used to wearing whatever panty we wanted without lines. The downfall to our Zellas though is that they get too hot in summer. To compromise, because Zyia‘s leggings are lighter-weight, they show just a little bit of a line, but nothing too extreme.
I have worn them multiple times so they have been washed and dried and they get softer each time, which I love! I feel confident when I am wearing them to yoga and even out to dinner right after.
After looking at their Instagram page, there are a few other items we want to try. To make a purchase, it is recommended you go through a representative. We highly suggest going through our girl, Brook! You can connect with her via Instagram and she can help you through the ordering process.
Let us know if you connect with Brook and what some of your favorite yoga pants/leggings are!
Xo,
Er & Ash
