At 4 a.m. on our way to Pittsburgh International Airport we were running over with excitement imagining what all we would be seeing when we landed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nothing could quite prepare us for the views we began taking in from the plane. The tops of the Rocky Mountains covered in snow, green mountain sides, and sparkling bodies of water.
After landing, we hustled to Enterprise where a black Ford Escape was waiting for us; we hopped in and headed out of the parking garage. The moment we pulled out from the building and merged onto the highway was a moment both of us wont forget. Mountains. Huge, beautiful, snow covered mountains surrounded us. Ashley drove to our next destination while Erin took about a million phots.
“I expected the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this,” Ashley joked quoting Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber. We laughed and jammed to *Nsync (don’t judge) and Thomas Rhett all the way to our first stop…. Target! Yes, in true Ashley-and-Erin fashion, the first destination of our trip is usually a Target or Dunkin’. We wanted to grab a few supplies, like protein bars for hiking… and junk food for after. It is pretty cool coming out of Target and being face-to-face with a gigantic mountain. It was in the 70s, but the breeze was definitely a nice, cool one.
We headed toward Park City in search of food and where we would be staying for the week. Since it was still too early to check in to our room we decided to drive around. We continued to see signs saying “Historical Main Street” so we followed them and we are so glad that we did.
We stopped at 501 on Main for a rather big lunch because we were STARVING! We shared spicy shrimp tempura as an appetizer and then followed that with the 501 Burger. We sat at tables right near Main Street and took in the beautiful breeze and the sounds of the trollies passing by. Then, we finally headed to see our amazing condo for the week (there will be a post on that later)!
We honestly crashed for a few hours after getting to the room and unpacking. We were so full from lunch, even at 9pm, that we headed for dessert at a place just a short walk away. We stopped and took some photos here at the Sundial Lodge on our way there because the lighting was perfect.
Ashley had the “Save the Puppies” which had Oreos and a HoHo. It was called that because part of the proceeds go to a local rescue shelter. And Erin had the “Don’t Lay a Finger on my Butterfinger.” Self-explanatory. They were amazing and an excellent, nutritious dinner for us. lol. Safe to say, we didn’t finish and took the extra back to the room!
Today, we explore more of Salt Lake City and Park City and we couldn’t be more excited. We have a good bit of calories from last night to burn… so we’re going to get started.
xo,
Er & Ash
