Let’s all just take a second to take a deep breath & say,
“It’s OK that [insert your worry here].”
We tend to make our social media pages our “highlight reel”— no messes, no problems— just perfect make-up, outfits, and hair. We’re guilty for sure, but life is not all of those things other than maybe 5% of the time… or 10 minutes here and there.
What you see above, though… this is real life. Laundry overflowing, mismatched outfits, unwashed hair, but semi-ready make-up done because I have to Zoom for work all day. The bathroom needs cleaned and the laundry needs rotated, but I have to take care of what’s important first— my kid, my dog, my job. I could maybe squeeze in washing my hair tonight once everything is done, but if not, a little more dry shampoo will do the trick. I haven’t been sleeping more than a few hours a night because I’ve been up with my baby or I’ve been staring at the computer all day and it’s messing up my sleep schedule.
THE TRUTH:
•Being a mom is hard.
•Teaching from home is hard.
•Maintaining a clean house and laundry is hard.
•Finding time for self care is hard.
•Making dinner and even figuring out what the heck to make for dinner is hard (is it healthy enough?? Idk.)
•Finding time for God shouldn’t be, but is hard.
•Working around the clock is hard.
•Finding time to workout is hard.
•And somehow, though it’s our side gig/hobby, figuring out how to run a successful blog, respond to emails, fulfill obligations, and post consistently— while doing all of the above— is hard.
We are admitting that life is hard. We don’t want to create this perfect image that reflects a life that isn’t attainable. Yes, it’s in our nature to showcase the good, the fun, the beautiful, but most of the time, that’s not what life. It’s not always about clean bathrooms and killer makeup; it’s a rushed mess, dark circles, meeting deadlines, serving others, and sometimes sleeping.
But this IS life and despite all of the crazy and imperfections, we love it. We are blessed to live each day and every single one is a gift from God. We are going to do our best to be more vulnerable, open, and real because we are so much more than the 5% perfection that you see here and on our Instagram. Sometimes, our OOTDs look like what you see above and you know what? That’s ok. ♡
Let’s get real.
