5 Reasons to Visit Disney at Christmastime
All the reasons why Christmastime is the best time of the year to visit Disney World!
a fashion, travel, + real life blog
We can officially say, with complete confidence: The best time to go to Disney World is CHRISTMASTIME!!! Having been to Disney numerous times during different times of year, we have to tell you the honest truth; the holidays are THE time to go! Let’s talk about what to do if you visit Disney during the most wonderful time of the year & the top 5 reasons you should go at Christmastime…
There is nothing like being able to walk around the parks in leggings or a sweatshirt in the evenings– and not being hot and sweaty during the day. It makes the parks even more enjoyable!! Everything else is the same as visiting in the summer or spring, but you can comfortably walk all over or park hop all day long without feeling dehydrated or exhausted from the usual Florida heat and humidity. During the day, it’s warm enough to wear shorts/skirts/dresses, but early in the am and into the evening, you’ll want a light jacket or sweatshirt! It’s absolute perfection. You can comfortably wear a pair of leggings most days too.
MVMCP is the best Disney “event” we’ve ever attended! From the moment you walk into Magic Kingdom, you’re greeted as a “special guest.” We were directed just to the right of Main Street, USA, upon entrance into the park, as Christmas music played and we were each handed a commemorative ornament. We could arrive any time after 4:00PM, but the party officially started at 6:00PM. We were also given special wrist bands that allowed us to have access to the park from 6-midnight. The other guests without wrist bands had to leave the park at 6:00. Starting at 6:00, there were shorter lines, very small wait times, and complimentary hot cocoa, apple cider, and Christmas cookie stations set up all over the park that MVMCP guests could stop at as many times as they wanted for a different type of Cheryl’s Christmas cookie at each location! The hot cocoa and apple cider were delicious too!
This is a special event ticket you must purchase in advance. For the Christmas party, they cap off park attendance at about 30,000 (normal attendance is around 80,000-100,000 people). While it is still pricy (it’s Disney World, so this is to be expected), but not as expensive as a full-day ticket. In our opinion, it is well worth the price because it is a more exclusive park day with different experiences and photo ops and shorter wait times, allowing you to ride/do everything in the park you would normally do and experience the Christmas party!
One of the best parts of going to Disney at Christmas is planning your outfits! We shopped Etsy for weeks leading up to the trip and coordinated our outfits via group text! It was so fun to plan what we would wear! Ashley’s mom got us all red and green light-up bulb earrings and we wore them the entire trip (you’ll see them lit up in many of our photos lol!)
We also loved that all of the parks were decorated for Christmas and even some of the rides offered a different experience, with a Christmas vibe! Many of our PhotoPass pics were even Christmas-themed (see above)!
Everyone loves eating and drinking around the world at Epcot, but what’s even better is eating Christmas dinner foods from around the world!! We ended up trying holiday meals and drinks from a few different countries after starting the day with our Christmas Starbucks coffees. 🙂 EPCOT DAY = PERFECT DAY. We park hopped over to Animal Kingdom for the evening afterward!
At every turn, there is a beautifully decorated tree. There have to be 1000+ Christmas trees between all the parks, Disney resorts, and Disney Springs. But last and certainly not least… the star of the show is definitely the snow on Main Street. We’re Pennsylvania girls; we see snow all the time, but there is something truly magical about seeing snow on Main Street throughout the evening and during the fireworks. Disney at Christmastime is the definition of magical!
It rained a little the evening we park hopped to Animal Kingdom. Because it’s Florida and we know this happens at times, we had our ponchos ready to go (see above)! One thing about us, a little rain never dampens our spirits. In fact, we prefer to dance in the rain. 😉 And there is nothing like riding Everest in the rain (see above)! LOL!
There is truly nothing like the magic of Disney during the most magical time of the year. We love Disney & we love Christmas– so it’s a match made in heaven! ♡ We can’t wait to go back for MVMCP next year!
